The 10 to 4 Mountain Bike Challenge in Kenya, 2006.Mount Kenya is the starting point for the 10 to 4 mountain bike challenge.Mountain bike riders from all over the world will take part in this Mountain Bike Challenge.

The worlds’ greatest mountain biking challenge

The next event will be held in February 2011. The exact date will be confirmed by May 2010.

The race is on to save Mount Kenya with the pioneering '10 to 4’ mountain bike challenge, an exhilarating downhill mountain bike race from 10,000 feet to 4,000 feet, on the slopes of Mount Kenya. You will cycle through a wide range of terrain and vegetation zones including forests, farms, homesteads and wildlife areas in one of the most spectacular regions Kenya has to offer.

This is a unique opportunity to help raise funds to save a mountain in need whilst taking on the major challenge of riding from altitude starting your morning at around 0 degrees celcius to 40 degrees at 4,000ft by the time you reach the finish.

“I did the 10 to 4 in 2007 on a second-hand Trek bike. The race was excellent - well organised, hard, a mixture of fast downhill and tracks, with a good party at the end as well as raising money for a good cause. I was thoroughly knackered and totally exhilarated by the time I crossed the finishing line . . . just ahead of an African competitor with only one leg! Where else in the world can you do a seventy kilometre banzai down a mountain with some of the most stunning scenery in Africa streaming past you?” Roraigh Ainslie
